The Life of Saint Paisios the Athonite in English. Saint Paisios (1924-1994) is a contemporary saint in the Orthodox Church who lived most of his life as a monk and ascetic on Mount Athos. His life stands as a stark testimony against those who don't believe in God, much less in miracles. More importantly, he is a guiding light to the faithful. I'm not Orthodox yet, but I think this man might just be my patron saint.
Neither am I, but God willing I'll be baptised later this year when my catechism finishes, hopefully I'll find my patron saint and st. Paisios is one I'm considering.
As a former atheist, learning about men like this, that have such a powerful connection with God make me more sure than ever that I was right to start believing in God. I may not be a Christian (at least not at this point) but I do believe in a God more powerful and wonderful than can be described.

I am an orthodox Christian.my grandfather was a Greek priest in Tarpon Springs, Florida for 42 years. He was a wonderful man from Kalymnos. Later, after my yiayia died he was given the opportunity to become an archimandeus in Kalymnos. I believe in Jesus Christ and the lord. Can you please pray for my family. I live in Wisconsin now. I'm a Norwegian, living in a pretty much godless land, and find myself very much drawn to Byzantine- and Greek-Orhodox Hymns and Religion in general, although labels like Protestant or Orhodox don't mean much to me, but only to believe in Jesus and live according to His will. An interesting documentary.

Here in the Netherlands same thing. And also feel a deep connection with the Orthodox Chruch. The stories of the saints especially are touching.
From the USA, and I have come to think societies such as Norway's are actually more Christ-like in deeds when it comes to how social matters are dealt with, as compared to how our so called Protestant Work ethic has created an almost anti-christ like environment. Of course, the 'grass is always greener,' but at least on the surface, the evidence is strong.
And btw, discovering Orthodox has led me to this understanding.
Orthodoxy is the answer to all religions. Orthodoxy is not a religion is the truth it's self.

There must be one thing which you would like to strive towards, and that is reason to try with all restraint to never touch drugs again, I have had issues with pornogrophy for a long time I quit but I go back then quit again, I believe that you can turn your back on your addictions be strong and be disciplined peace.

This is beautiful. My grandmother, Kyriaki, suffered hardships as a child during the Nazi invasion in Greece, and became a missionary starting some Greek Orthodox churches in America. Since she has passed, I feel I have been propelled directly back towards the way. I hope this reaches as many people as possible. For anyone struggling with their faith and beliefs; it is all part of growing. Do not fight it, open yourself up and let the grace into your heart. If you feel to cry, let it out and speak the things you are feeling.
